The first time you get a vibe like:
“Don’t go down that street”
And

It was always right
It just has cane and cane and cane and cane and cane and cane
And the kids are kind of fucked up

And

By fucked up I mean some of them make breakfast seem like a head start
You don’t even know what’s it’s like
You don’t even know how far behind you can start
It’s only a short hill
You can run it
And you get to the top and the retirement home is there
And you still don’t know how far behind you can start

And

Some of them a just twitchy
And you really don’t want to know why
Like you really don’t want to know why
Because they’ll always be running up an incline
And you’re on the flat
You don’t even know how far behind you can start
We all though it was just meth
Or alcohol or PTSD

Or finish, like being stuck at home because you fell and you’re too old or too weak or too fat
Or put your own pants on even
Always up an incline
It’s a short hill but it’s still a hill

You see the same pattern:
Butthurt guy has child-like tantrum in a man’s body
And uses child-like excuses for a man-sized aggression
“You don’t even know what it’s like,
You don’t know how far behind you can start”

You can run it and you’ll feel like hurling
But when you get to the top the hospital is there right next to the retirement home
You don’t know how far behind you can start
It’s like you’re racing on a track and there’s runners that never even knew about it
Never made it there, stuck at home
Locked up, not told about it
Never even heard of running up a hill
You never really know how far behind you can start
